    Homecoming Timeline

Bringing your new Bengal kitten home is an exciting milestone. Here is our step-by-step roadmap for their first 24 hours, first week, first month and beyond — so they settle in smoothly and become part of your family.

    The Golden Rule

The stress of moving house is enough change for week one. One room, same food, familiar things — and let them anchor before you widen their world.

    🏠

    First 24 Hours

    • Set them up in the one room you have chosen for their first week (your bedroom works perfectly), with litter tray, food, water, bed and a cat tree if you have one.
    • Show them the litter tray as soon as you arrive, and pop them in it once — they will remember.
    • Sit with them and let them approach people rather than the other way around.
    • Feed their usual Royal Canin kitten kibble at their usual times — no food changes, the stress of the move is enough for their tummy.
    • Expect some crying the first night — a comfy bed, soft toy and familiar-smelling blanket will help.
    🗓️

    First Week

    • Keep them anchored in their one room until they are eating reliably, toilet-ing reliably and choosing to seek you out for affection.
    • Spend lots of time in there — teaser play, small balls, chase toys. Your job this week is to be in the room as much as you can.
    • Keep the litter trays close and accessible at all times (two trays minimum).
    • If you have other pets, let them get used to each other's scents. When curiosity starts at the door, feed them either side of it at the same time.
    • Keep the food exactly the same. If you change their diet in week one, they will almost definitely get diarrhoea — the stress of moving is enough change already.
    🐾

    First Month

    • Once the hissing phase has stopped, bring your current cats or dogs into the room for short supervised play sessions, and gradually widen your kitten's world — you will know when they are ready to be fully integrated.
    • Book the vet check-up your vet recommends and register their vaccine certificate with your clinic — with vaccinations done at 8 and 12 weeks, nothing more is due until their first birthday.
    • Keep worming monthly — indoor cats still need it, as parasites can be carried in raw food or fresh water.
    • After they are fully settled, if you want to change their food, transition slowly by mixing more of the new food into the Royal Canin over a week or two.
    • Keep socialising gently — new people, sounds and environments, all in a positive way.

    Ongoing Support

    • Your kitten comes with two months of complimentary pet insurance — activate it on or before collection day, then decide whether to continue or switch before the cover ends.
    • Pedigree papers from Cats NSW will follow a few weeks after collection; we'll post them on.
    • We're here for life. Nothing is too silly to ask, or too small to mention.
    • If you ever need to rehome your cat, please bring them back to us so we can help find them the right family.
