A small, family-run cattery in the Blue Mountains, obsessively focused on health and genetic diversity, and raising Bengals who are, first and foremost, part of the family.
We honestly thought we didn't like cats. But our daughter Boleyn begged, and begged, and, because she tends to get everything she wants, we found ourselves researching breeds, looking for one cat that could hold its own in a busy, bouncy household.
And then we found the Bengal: confident, almost dog-like, and dressed like the cheetahs we'd fallen for on our honeymoon. One kitten later, we were besotted. The Bengal gave us everything we hoped for and more, and these days we can't imagine home without several of them zooming through it, polishing off unattended dinners and gently reminding everyone who runs the house.
We're scientifically, obsessively focused on health. Every king and queen is DNA tested for inherited conditions (PRA-b and PK-def), heart screened and health checked routinely, either owned by us or part of another registered, ethical breeding program.
Queens are HCM tested and cleared before mating; studs are re-tested every two years. Given the import restrictions in Australia, we're working with a tight gene pool, so we maintain a six-plus generation pedigree database and check every pairing to ensure an AvK of over 85%, best practice, before mating. We test for everything that can be tested for. Responsible breeders don't have secrets, so our results are always shared openly.
Bengals are so fascinating because they're a unique combination of the Asian Leopard Cat and three pedigree foundation breeds, the Abyssinian, the Ocicat and the Egyptian Mau. That foundation carries a rich, recessive rainbow of colour: snow, cinnamon, blue and chocolate, plus silver and marble from a later American Shorthair cross. For decades the only colour recognised on the show bench was brown. We deliberately genetically test and pair to bring the breed's full palette back to the show bench, and our laps, running dedicated programs for each colour tribe.
Browns, snows, silvers, charcoals, and marbles — genetically tested and curated for vibrant pattern and wild contrast.
We breed to show, so the order here is deliberate: show cats first, breeding cats second, pets third. Our goal is to title every cat in the ring before it is bred, and independent judges assessing our cats against temperament, health and the breed standard is quality control you can't fake.
That matters most for our pet kittens. They come from the same pairings and the same lines as our show and breeding kittens, so they carry the type, pattern and confident, people-focused temperament we breed for. You get the quality of a show-bred Bengal, simply living as a much-loved pet.
Our Bengal kittens grow up in the middle of our busy home, alongside our teenager and our other cats, exposed to all the sights, sounds and chaos of family life. It's a genuine part of how we socialise every litter, and it means our kittens settle into new homes with ease. Along with our home's general chaos, our kittens are nurtured to be bulletproof. They don't hide in corners.
Each cat lives the way that best suits them, there is no one-size-fits-all plan. Introverts get privacy, social butterflies get company, and everyone gets choice. Our studs each have their own arrangement. King has a catio all to himself because he prefers his own company, with Joker and his wife Mistletoe living full time in the catio next door. Two more studs share a catio and split their time between it and the home office, where they supervise our video calls.
Our queens live in friendship groups of three, rotating between catios every four days, with regular stints in the house for human time, dog time and general chaos management. Kittens live in the house with us full time until they mature, laps, couches, the works. Beyond their own catios, we have additional outdoor garden catios for playtime and extra stimulation, and every cat has access to exercise wheels. Some love them. Some use them as a toilet. We don't judge.
We are proudly registered with Cats NSW, Breeder CN239, prefix FAIRYFOREST, and are also active members of ANCATS and TICA.
No pressure, no obligation, no deposits until you're ready. Just an honest way to follow along.
